I just finished the first book I have ever read by Francine Rivers. The book I read was "Redeeming Love"...OMG!! That woman can write a book. Has anyone else read any of her books and which ones are your favorites?

I read "Blow The Shofar", and "The Last Sin-Eater." I thought those were excellent.

Has anyone else read any of her books and which ones are your favorites? I 'think' I've read all of Rivers' books and she is by far my favorite author of Christian fiction. Redeeming Love is my favorite. But as someone else mentioned The Last SinEater is also very good. The Mark of the Lion series is excellent---but takes a bit longer. My least favorite was Leota's Garden.

I am now reading "Atonement Child". This is probably one of the best books I have read that gives a different view from each person's perspective. I am reading the part where Dynah is trying to decide what to do. I think I will leave Leota's Garden until last.

I read all of her books except the Shofar one, and loved them. Then I read Brock and Bodie Thoene's Zion Chronicles, and I haven't been able to look at any of Rivers' books since.

I love Francine Rivers' books. She's one of the best out there. Has she written anything new lately, though? I haven't seen any new books in the catalogues lately. I liked "And the Shofar Blew" the best. I also really enjoyed "The Mark of the Lion" series.

The Last SinEater or The Scarlet Thread I've read the one about the shofar but don't remember much. Perhaps I need to reread it. Rivers also has a number of novella's. I think I have six. Perhaps she has more of those as well. I especially liked the one on Mary.

What ending would you have picked for Atonement Child? I thought it was a good ending. I didn't care for the novellas.

Mark of the lion is a good series but it is a bit heavier. I also like Leota's Garden, The Atonement Child, Redeeming Love. I think I read the Shofar one too.

I know of several families who would love to have a child but cannot. It seems young unwed mothers either have their babies aborted or they keep them to raise even though they do not have the resources. So it was just for personal reasons I wanted the ending to be different.

While I love to read, I don't really like the type of fiction that Francine Rivers writes. But I read Redeeming Love for a book club and absolutely loved it. It was very well written and an incredible story. Very thought-provoking.

I remember reading this book when I was in Virginia visiting friends. I wondered how many of the native folk of that part of the country knew what this book is speaking of. Maybe you could ask some oldtimers if this is familiar to them? I'd be curious.

A sin-eater is a traditional type of spiritual healer who uses a ritual to cleanse the dying of their sins. The sin-eater absorbs the sins of the people he or she serves and typically works for a fee. As the sins are usually consumed through food and drink, the sin-eater also gains a meal through the transaction. Sin-eaters are often outcasts, as the work may be considered unsavory and is usually thought to lead to an afterlife in hell due to carrying the unabsolved sins of others. The Roman Catholic Church regularly excommunicated sin-eaters when they were more common, not only because of the excessive sins they carried, but also because they infringed upon the territory of priests, who are supposed to administer Last Rites to the dying according to Church Doctrine. WHAT IS A SINEATER

Ooh, good book! Her "The Mark of the Lion" series are my favorite books *ever*! She gives a little extra history at the beginning, because it takes place in Roman times, but once you're in them I promise you cant put them down. :0) "Atonement Child" was pretty good too. Different from some of her other stuff, but good.

I've heard others rave about her books, but I've never ready any of them. Which one would be good for a FR virgin?
