Hi, my name is Sophie. I am 19 (20 this month).

I have known about this website for quite some time, I think I might have registered at the forums a while ago but I couldn't remember my username or if I ever made one. So, I decided to make this one.

I am kind of still finding my feet with Christianity. I started to read the Bible a couple of weeks ago, I have a few Bibles given to me over time but I never knew where to start reading, etc. Then a few weeks ago I found The Good News Bible and saw it had the reading plan, so I got it and have been reading every day. I like the simpler language, but I still like to read my 'old' Bible. It was my great-grandfathers. I am liking the Good News Bible because the simpler language enables be to understand the more traditional language used in my grandfathers Bible.

I am looking for a Church but have been researching. I like what I have read about the Baptist Church of Australia, and the Uniting Church. I really want to go to Church reguarly but I am kind of scared about how you go, do I just go?

I go to University, I am a Nursing and Midwifery student.

Hi Sophie,

Welcome to the Forums and Happy Birthday to you soon. I hope you have a very nice day.

Welcome also to your new found Christianity. I read the Good News Bible because, as you say, it is simple to understand. May I suggest you join a Bible Study Group in a church of your choice. At these Groups you can study with others and be able to ask questions and understand better.

First try and find a church where you feel comfortable. Visit different churches and listen to the sermons, their prayers etc ... If possible, try to talk with the priest, pastor, vicar etc ... Hopefully you'll find somewhere that suits you soon. Ask your Christian friends - or your pastor at university.

Does the University have a Christian Society? Most do here in the UK. If so, join the society and make friends with Christians there.

I wish you all the best and great success in your Nursing and Midwifery career.

God bless.

Thank-you.

Yes, there is a Christian group at my University. I didn't join at the beginning of this year but will next year (uni starts in March, ends in November here).
