Me too Bob. If I didn't I would still be on my knees praying for forgiveness.

Depends on what you mean by "know." I'm one of those people who thinks that, when it comes right down to it, it's impossible (or nigh impossible) to really know anything. So, in that sense, nope. But do I fully believe that I will go to Heaven after this life? Yes. Absolutely.

I almost said 100% sure, but then I thought of all the verses that talked about HOPE. So my joyful answer is "I HOPE so!"

I sort of struggle with this. I remember when I received salvation (I was 14), but I had also thought I was saved before that. So I'm always plaguing myself with, "How do I know that last time was real? I thought the other time was real, but it wasn't. How do you really know?" I just pray that God will show me if I'm not and to lead me to accept His gift. I guess I struggle with it because I thought I accepted salvation a previous time.

No doubt in my mind. Jesus made a promise. I believe in Him and that promise He made. I'll be singing His glory along with all my brethren into eternity.

Hebrews 11:1 Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. In other words faith is substantial evidence of our hope, and a right response to God. This hope is not a wish but a knowledge in which we await. This verse tells us Who our hope is in, 1Tim 1:1 Paul, an apostle of Jesus Christ by the commandment of God our Savior, and Lord Jesus Christ, our hope. Therefore, our hope is not a wish but a certainty.

So far 64% of you say that you are entirely certain. 2 of you say that you are pretty sure that you are going. 2 of you say that you hope you are going and 2 of you honestly admit that you don't know. For those of you who are not certain... how do you sleep at night? Heaven and hell are two entirely different places and you do not know which one you are going to. Please get help! Please!

I believe I am going to heaven. \ Why? Because I fully believe that God has forgiven me, I fully believe Jesus Christ has really satisfactorily settled the issue of my sin and failures. Jesus Christ is so very clear in my sight, I have been adopted and received. I know the kind of person that I am, I know that I have nothing to offer Jesus Christ. There is not one single thing about me that God either needs or must use in this world. But I know I am loved, I am accepted and beyond all doubt I am joyful in the fact that my current imperfections are being covered by the same blood that washed all my past sins away. I am Elected of God, I dont put any faith in my decision or my repentance or my works, I dont put the smallest hope in anything Ive done as a Christian to recommend myself to God. Jesus Christ has done it all for me, I am redeemed and Jesus Christ was crucified in order to justly forgive me and give me a new heart. I put my whole life in one single person and that person is Jesus Christ who came to save sinners. John

If I was'nt sure of my own salvation. I would certainly find it hard to tell others about the gospel. Jesus told me in his word. That if I believed I would receive all that he promised. I once heard that I was one beggar telling another where I found bread. Jesus said that he was the bread of life, and if I came to him he would not cast me out.

Strange question. Where did Christ ever ask someone if they were saved and if they wanted to go to heaven? To ask someone if they want to go to heaven is to suggest loving and wanting to know Christ were not enough motivation. I think someone somewhere suggested that it sounds as if we are trying to bribe people who are not interested in Christ and Christ alone. I personally don't care for I have not been bought by the promise of heaven but by the love of God in Christ. My hope and assurance are not in promises to come but in the reality of todays living with Christ. Who ever asked Paul, "Are you saved?" His answer may well have been, Can't you tell? or "What is that to you? You must follow Christ." Is not His righteousness enough of a bribe to make us repent and follow Him who has the words of life? Is it true that men will cease to love Christ if there be no heaven and no hell? Would Christ have nothing to offer us if they did not exist? Do I desire to die and be with Chirst? Yes sometimes. Do I ever resist this desire for the love of those who do not know Chirst? Yes sometimes.

For those of you who are not certain... how do you sleep at night? Heaven and hell are two entirely different places and you do not know which one you are going to. Please get help! Please! Did people in 1400 AD know that the earth was the center of the solarsystem, or did they just believe it? With our understanding that the sun is the center of our solar system, it's hard to say they knew that the earth was the center. Easier to say they believed it was. But I highly doubt there was anything neurologically different between their "knowledge" that the sun revolved around the earth and our "knowledge" that the earth revolves around the sun. I also don't think there's anything different going on neurologically when a Mormon says he "knows" that Joseph Smith is a true prophet of God, or when a as when a person on this thread says they "know" they're saved. It all just suggests being "wholly confident" in one's belief. If there were something different going on neurologically between a "wholly confident" belief that happened to be correct, and a "wholly confident" belief that happened to be incorrect, then we could someday discover the Truth via neurology! That would be an amazing day indeed.

I am also not an OSAS believer either. As she stated I am 100% sure that if I remain in Him I will go to heaven and I have hopeful confidence in the promises of Christ. quote:

The question should not be whether we know we are going to Heaven, but whether we know that we have eternal life. And the one who has believed on the Lord Jesus Christ and repented has (present tense) eternal life. Just as accepting a gift from someone is one of the easiest things to do, receiving the gift of eternal life is a simple matter -- repentance toward God and faith toward our Lord Jesus Christ. If you have received Him by faith, He is yours and you are His. And nothing can change that fact. There is not a single person who is a genuine believer who should ever wonder whether they have eternal life. It is a gift given by God's grace to the sinner who believes and repents. It is not because we deserve it or can ever do something to receive eternal life. This gift is given because of what Christ did in His life and in His death, burial and resurrection.

Numerous times it uses the word "know" in relation to our salvation. John summarizes the purpose of the letter in 1 John 5:13: These things I have written to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, so that you may know that you have eternal life. I know that I know that I know I have eternal life in Christ Jesus!
