So how did your Thanksgiving dinner go? Between my mom and I, we cooked all of the main things and everybody else brought a side or dessert. Leftovers were minimal and I got a few really good recipes. How was it for everybody else?

Thanksgiving is not my best holiday. We did make most of the food the day before. We went bowling. I was going to read the family the article that I received from crosswalk in email, but I didn't. But it did help me to think about why we have Thanksgiving and decide to do it differently from now on. We all thanked God we were still here and for the people that helped us this year. Next year we will go to someone's house if invited, eat out or plan a non-tradional meal. Blessings, hsmom2

My familys Thanksgiving went pretty good.We went out to eat,and over my aunts house later on.My mom did make a thanksgiving dinner but it was on the weekend. She just didn't feel like making it on thursday. On wednesday we didn't make it to church since my mom and I were busy baking all day.We made pumpkin pie, blueberry pie,and mini pumpkin cheesecakes. It was really fun.

Ours went really nicely. Very low key. Dh brought home a brined turkey the day before, and I stuck it in the oven when he went to work at 4 am. It was the first time I'd made stuffing, and I was surprised at how easy that was. I don't know what I did wrong but that turkey cooked, and cooked, and then cooked 3 more hours at my parents house in the afternoon before it was done enough to eat. But we eventually did get to eat it and it was *good*. We had sweet potatoes (I made them), and then my mom provided the peas, cranberry sauce, and sparkly juice. Gebre helped me make spice cake, and my brother bought a pumpkin pie. Honestly, we didn't miss the mashed potatoes and bread that was normal for our Thanksgivings. I'm more and more of the mindset that simpler is better. It was not much work, and we enjoyed spending the afternoon chatting and drinking tea and enjoying the kids.
