Hi Yall, I here there are a lot of claims about making money from home, which are work based opportunities such as Get paid to fill out surveys online Data Entry jobs(online) The list goes on and on, I know there are scams out there, but I am wanting to know are thre actually any legitimate online ony making opportunites; excluding ebay, soundclick etc. imtalking about all these sites like the paid survey sites that go around and other online work from home ventures. I remember I joined a MLM called Quixtar and I did research on it after leaving,, and I left because I did not feel comfortavle. and I found out it was a scam, is these things really scams, are do we make them scams by feeling uncomforatble. If so, have any of you tried any of these? please feel free to share your experiences and the legitimate sites if you would.

I purchased an online travel agency from YTB ($500. and $50 mo/ plus extra courses) and after 18 months, did the paperwork and realized I made $5.00 profit not counting any taxes I will owe. All hype and promises. I left them with almost $500 in unpaid commissions. Very unhappy. I've been doing surveys for a number of years and DO make some money doing that. Right now I have 2 checks for $30.00 each on the way. One company gives me $50 a year as an extra bonus. It's not a lot of money, but it always comes in handy. I used to do quite well selling things on Ebay. We have a dollar store in town that sometimes has some really nice items. I made quite a profit when they had a huge assortment of John Deere items for $1.00.

I also take surveys. Sometimes I make money, sometimes I get points and then I can pick out prizes. I got an Orville Redenbocker microwave popper from taking surveys but I know that doesn't help paying the bills. Depends on what surveys you qualify for. I've also been able to test products like toilet paper and Reynold's Wrap. It helps when you don't have to buy that stuff. There is a web site called Send Earnings. I get 25 cents for reading web sites. All I have to do is click on the link and look at it. The 25 cents is for just clicking on the link and being connected to the site. If I like what they are offering, I will get more money for whatever it says on the site. I'm up to over $60 right now. I should ask for a check. You can also take surveys on Send Earnings. I can send you a list of survey sites, the ones I take are the best ones. You won't get ripped off from them. I forgot, I also do something called My Points. Another click on site and you collect points. I have so many points that I have to cash them in. I don't get money on this site but I get gift cards and prizes. Once I redeem my points, I will start all over again. You get 250 points if you get people to join My Points but that offer expired a few weeks ago. No one would join. Once, I bought a quilt through them. These sites have places where if you buy things on-line through them, you get points. I got 200 for the quilt. I do that sometimes too, like at Christmas time.

Forgot to mention that a smart friend of mine says if a company wants you to pay to do a job up front, like pay me $40 and you can start your own business with us, it is always a rip off. I remember one woman on TV saying she signed up to make jewelry for this company. She would make a pair of earrings following their instructions and they would send them back saying they were wrong. She made them so well, exactly like the picture and they still said it was wrong. She quit and went out on her own. Another woman was doing a business out of her home, mailing clothing to people. One day the police knocked on her door. Turns out the clothing was all stolen and she got into some trouble. Because she had no clue what was going on, she answered an ad for an on-line at home business like your talking about, they were lenient with her as she helped them catch the guys who ran the operation. You have to be so careful. I wouldn't do it.

http://liveops.com/. This could be a good opportunity to work from home if you like sales, customer service and don't mind being on the phone for long periods of time.

I second liveops. I know some friends who do this, and make some money, nothing outrageous, between $8 to $12/hour. You will need a land line telephone, and a broadband Internet connection, plus one time $50.

ORIGINAL: Mollymouser Quixtar = Amway (by the way.) Legitimate work-from-home jobs: 1. Buy and sell things on E-bay 2. Buy and sell things on Craigslist 3. Buy and sell thing in your local want-ads 4. babysitting 5. Pet sitting 6. Housesitting (ok, you would have to leave your house) 7. Dog walking (would have to leave your house) 8. Poop Scooping (would have to leave your house) 9. Sewing and alterations 10. Ironing 11. Appointment setting (some companies hire people to do this, usually on commission) 12. Tutoring 13. Teach a musical instrument 14. Proofread/Type term papers What are you skills? Can you knit? Are you an artist? What are you good at? I like these ideas. There are legitimate things you can do from home and make money without having to go through agencies. Here's a few I can think of: * Scan & digitalize pictures and/or slides (requires a special scanner... a friend of mine makes DVD's for his friends) * Make soaps... now that I've had homemade soaps, I don't think I'll be buying from the store anytime soon. * Write articles, newsletters, etc. Write a book.

There is also elance.com. Companies can hire individuals for tasks from everything from administrative to web design. You bid for jobs, and the money is secured in an escrow account before any work is begun. Also, some people find success selling Mary Kay, Avon, etc.

Also, some people find success selling Mary Kay, Avon, etc. There is a new company called 31 Gifts (I don't know how to do the link but you can google it), it is a Christian based company that sells purses bags, etc. I do not sell their stuff but I like it. They are home sales based and are different from most I have seen. Because they are pretty new to the market you might find it easier to get customers interested. Also since it is spring, now is the time to look into craft fairs and markets because it is nicer out if you do candles or something like that.

I would not recommend any "work-from-home" opportunities, though some may be legit. I would brainstorm, figure out what you enjoy doing, and what you are proficient at doing, and figure out a business plan to make some extra cash doing it. This is probably the best, and truly only way to make money working from home. Dont do surveys, dont click on ads, dont do MLM; Do something productive and something you enjoy and you will have a much better chance of succeeding.

I work part-time from home. Believe it or not there are actually quite a few legit opportunities out there admist the scams. Lots of people work from home and actually make a living at it. I think the key though is to be good at what you do and to diversify. I also have a friend who works for a large company from her house. She's highly technical - does a lot of hardware/software integration work along with customer service - a very specialized skillset. My goal is to be able to move into a full-time work from home position one day. Until then, I keep plugging away at it. If you can write, you can always apply to Demand Studios. At $15 for a 400 word article, you won't get rich, but you can make a living at it if you work hard. They also have copyeditor and filmmaker opportunities (I think for films it is something like 200 - 300 a project). They pay twice a week and are prompt - I really like that! You can also try e-how, studio101 and others - though you might not make much - but you can keep residual income, which is nice. Same goes for Examiner.com. About.com is always looking for bloggers. Competition is fierce, but you can make somewhere between 400 - 600 a month - and some make more. Guru, Elance, and other sites are available. Also there are many other legit writing and editing sites. If you are interested, visit the forums at Absolute Write and check out the Freelance section in the Forums. Twitter also has lots of job writing job leads.

I just discovered Elance.com and I am giving it a shot. It's an interesting site for sure. I will update this if I end up getting some jobs through there. Competition is FIERCE though!

Check out the Rat Race site for legitimate work at home opportunties. You may have to be skilled such as transcriptionist, but there are many wah jobs such as cutomers service type telephone jobs. WAHM has different companies as well, not just MLM or sales type jobs. They list the customer service type jobs as well.
