Still a bad link. Here's a link to another story on the same subject: http://www.guardian.co.uk/commentisfree/2010/feb/21/andrew-rawnsley-gordon-brown It's interesting because this picture of a rough and touch Gordon Brown is in stark contrast to the rather effete, upper-crust, Hugh Grant-like persona of his opponent in the up-coming election, David Cameron. (Cameron even lives in Notting Hill, lol.) Labour has been making a lot of headway in the polls in the last couple of weeks and at least part of that is to do with doubts over whether Cameron and the Tories really have the heft it takes to see Britain through the stormy seas ahead. People are now saying that Cameron's Tories are just acting as if they are entitled to be in charge as opposed to working hard to earn the peoples' votes. That may be a raw deal on David Cameron, but there little doubting that the sense of entitlement within the Conservative party runs deep, even though they have been out of power for over a decade now. It is risky to play the "you may not like me much, but you know I am going to do what it takes" card, but since he is never going to be a popular politician in the same way as Thatcher and Blair were in their heyday, maybe he hasn't got too much to lose. Either way, it's shaping up to be an interesting election season -- mark your calendar -- 6th May is the likely date.
