Donna,
My sister had a hysterectomy at a young age (30) and her Dr put her on HRT until she reached the age where her body would naturally have gone through peri. She still dealt with mood swings, hot flashes and all the other stuff.
I think the HRT was more to prevent bone issues later than anything else.

Manda, it sounds like your progression is going much better than the rest of us. I envy you! kd

As far as being able to tolerate symptoms, I think as women we are probably more capable of tolerating it than we realize. We've put up w/ so many physical things in our lives, why not this too. I think w/ me the hardest thing is not getting a grip on mood swings & not really knowing when they happen. I never could predict PMS & wouldn't have really known I was having a problem until someone told me. Seems the same going through pre- that during my periods I can get a pretty bad attitude & don't know that it's happening. I would much rather be able to get a grip on that w/ some help, rather than take HRT for the other. I use natural progesterone & it works great for me. I don't need anything more. kd

I won't go on artificial hormones, but then I'm not 30 either :) I just deal with it. Some days are worse than others.

I take caltrait (I think it's called, maybe caltrate? something like that.) It has the calcium, vit d and something else.

I chew two Tums a day for the calcium.
And as an added bonus, it helps with the heartburn I now get all the time.

I get Viactiv multi-vitamins & Spring Valley calcium chews. I'm unable to tolerate them in pill form, so I take these. It also gives me my chocolate boost for the day. kd

Speaking of chocolate, the other day Larry took me to Cheesecake factory for my birthday cheesecake. I ordered key lime and Larry ordered Godiva. The guy who brought them was not the guy who took our order and he automatically put the chocolate one in front of me, like woman=chocolate. I pushed it to Larry and the waiter actually looked annoyed.

Well, I started.....I think.
Is one spot considered a "monthly"?

I don't know Kimmie, but I haven't even had one spot since the last week of Sept.

We're going up to visit my mom and grandparents for Thanksgiving. It's about a 4-5 hour drive to get there. I'm getting worried that Aunt Flo will want to come along. Since it's been so long since Aunt Flo has been here, I'm worried that she'll be a real pain (literally)!

I just did too. I don't even know if I can call it a spot, it's just sort of a small thin streak.

But I'm sad anyway.

Roberta, can you just wear a carefree pad or something? Those are pretty small.

TMI ALERT

That's more like mine too.
It looked more like the "tail end" of a period, it was a rust brown.
No cramps, nothing.
I am wearing a tampon just in case it decides to really start.

me too.

I'm not wearing protection because I'm not going anywhere. I do have those lunapads, and I'll use one of those when I get the kids from school.

That's what I keep having on and off about every two weeks. It's never much, but I don't know if it counts to tell when my countdown to being done should start.

That is awful I wonder if there is something that can be done. Didn't someone, I can't remember who, talk about getting scraped or something? I don't think I'd want to do it but then I'd not want to spot all the time either. It's hard to know what I'd do.

(but your avatar made me laugh!)

Oh no. If I'm gonna take protection, I'll need something bigger than that or it's not protection. lol!
I wear those super huge over night pads that Always started selling a few months ago. I couldn't find a link to show a picture of them. However I did find THIS LINK to put a smile on your faces.

Well I guess it is the real deal.
Aunt Flo decided to make it a "stick around longer than just coffee" visit.
Gee, I wish she would phone beforehand so I would know not to be home.
