Manda - I'm 47! I started pre at 39. It's been a long 8 years & I'm sure I'm no where close to being done! kd

The only thing that happened to me in the peri-menopause phase was that Aunt Flo got really, really regular and would send her bags ahead.

I thought I was starting into menopause when I was 47, but it turned out I was pregnant. The OB-GYN was pretty startled.

It is still a good idea to keep some EPTs around

Oh wow - mom at 47! And my sister thought she would have a tough time having a baby at 37. But considering she has 3 daughters - teenager at 14, preteen at 11 & a 3 year old who thinks she's the queen, well that's enough to go ahead & reserve a room at the institution! kd

Day 5.
Still going.
Getting annoyed.
Remembering the 43 Day and Night Flood.
Outside of the lady in the Bible, I'm wondering what the Guinness record is.

After not having a period for 5 months (my last one was at the end of May), Aunt Flo decided to visit today. I'm waiting for it to be a real gusher. When she came to visit in February, I flooded twice, one of the floods coming at the office and my boss was good enough to send me home. Sheesh, at my time of life (age 53), I'd love to toss my supplies permanently.

Well, here I am. Surgically menopaused. Don't y'all get jealous. I'm sure this will be an interesting ride also.

Maybe I'm odd (ok, I know, no maybe about it! ) but I've felt much better since my periods went down from 5-6 days to 2 days. My homeopath told me a long time ago (when I was pregnant with our first child) that he believed I had a hypersensitivity to oestrogen and didn't do well when there was a lot in my system. It definitely seems to be the case for me over the last 6-8 months, *and* I've lost 10lbs without really even trying. So I am hoping that will continue!!

I still haven't had a visit since 9/25/08. If she doesn't visit by the end of the year, I'm going to the gyn.

So far, not feeling any different hormonally, pretty good emotionally, and physically way sore. I am on Estradiol (generic for Estrace) 2 mg.

I am 45, and going through what the Dr believes is Peri-Menopause.

I wanted to start a thread for those of us who don't fit into the younger women concerns such as trying to conceive, breast feeding, things like that.

I hope for this to fit the needs of the "mature" woman (not saying anyone who isn't menopausal isn't mature, but I didn't want to use the term "elderly" either ), My hope for the discussion is to provide information to each other, symptoms, remedies, support and maybe sometimes, just a place to cool off from a hot flash and have a glass of "whine".

So, am I the only one on board this train?

Hey, I'm here! I'm 49 and am in the same position as you exactly. So many of the women's areas are for pregnancy, breastfeeding, childbearing, etc, etc, which there's nothing wrong with that, but I personally am past all that now. I'm not in full blown menopause yet, but its creeping closer and closer.

A symptom I have been having, and my sister too, is like periods of dizziness, almost feeling faint. Does that sound familiar to anyone?

princesslady,

That sounds familiar to me. I have sometimes felt dizzy when I had pms. At the time, I thought it was caused by Tylenol, since I tend to take that when I have pms for headaches. I haven't noticed it so much any more though.

No--that would be awful!

I get these shimmery football-shaped things that block out my vision. It must be some kind of migraine, but there is no real pain in my head. the shimmery thing grows, then moves past my field of vision, and make me kind of woozy and sick to my stomach.

Sex does not give them to me, though--in fact, the other day it took my mind off the blind spot
