Shar-Mar ---- ASK AWAY!!! Via email or here. I'll answer any and all questions you have.

You're pretty good at mass transit, I think you'd be able to figure it out. I'm also assuming, since you'll be here on official business, that you won't be off on your own too much. It'll almost be like you have a tour director for you tour director training.

Hey y'all!

I'm here in SanFran.

I left home in Jackson this morning around 8:30am (Mountain Time) and arrived at my motel here in San Fran this evening around 9:00pm (Pacific Time).

Except for a couple of vending machine chocolate, chocolate chip cookies, I had no food since 7:00am (very long, goofy story); and I was absolutely ravenous. I went and found something quick to eat, and, uhm, quickly ate it.

A minor glitch with my room . . . of which was rectified . . .

I've unpacked all my stuff, and now, I'm off to bed . . . either that or I fall asleep here at the keyboard. Personally, I think the bed will be much more comfortable.

Sweet dreams, y'all.

QUESTIONS:

Where you were born (as in geographical area; not which hospital or building), and when was the last time you were there?

I was born in a small town in Northeast Arkansas. I still live there.

Nope, it's against the law here. We used to be able to when I was a kid, but then they passed a bunch of air pollution laws and that was one of them.

Where you were born (as in geographical area; not which hospital or building), and when was the last time you were there?
Around 1/4 mile from where I live now. And as you know by now that's the same block I've lived on for 49 of my 50 years.

Hey God, thanks for getting Shar-Mar safely to SF. Please keep her safe and sound while she's there. Thanks.

I didn't play the turkey info game, but I'll do this one...

I was born in the same hospital as Poppa and this is also where I delivered both of the little bees. The last time I drove thru town was Nov 14th (or was it a week earlier?) and I was a block away, looking at the back side of the hospital.

We are there often because it is our county seat and one of the bigger malls is there.

Shar-Mar, some of the nicest photos I've seen of my BIL were taken in SF. It may be because he went without his family (work) or the background. You take your pick.

(borrows soapbox)

Driving with seizures! Errgh. I know someone who did because he has a pacemaker-type gizmo in his brain and he knows it is starting so he can activiate the gizmo and stop it. His doctor testified he has warnings and can stop them so the driver argued that he can pull over and short circuit the episode. The judge disagreed but when the driver tried to turn in his license the state wouldn't take it for some clerical reason so the driver decided that the judge ALLOWED him to drive but couldn't say that in court so he (the judge) changed the paperwork...Right. Stupid thinking.

I don't care if you know they are coming. If you have no place to pull over because you are on country roads - it isn't safe. If you are sitting in the inside lane and traffic isn't moving, you can't change lanes and pull over when you need to - it isn't safe. Supposedly, he isn't driving now, but I don't believe it. I truly think my source of info started lying to me so I would no longer get upset about it.

/soapbox

Shar-Mar, coming from someone who just ate 6 crackers with cheese ball cheese on them for breakfast, I hope you wake up to something other than cookies...

Where you were born (as in geographical area; not which hospital or building), and when was the last time you were there?
I was born in Clarksburg, WV (the north-central portion of the state) and I was last there in October of '07. BTW, that whole area of WV, which encompasses the cities of Clarksburg, Bridgeport, Fairmont, Grafton (the birthplace of Mother's Day), and Morgantown, is where a good portion of our Italian-American population lives. And it's also home to some great Italian restaurants, as well as the WV Italian Heritage Festival which takes place over Labor Day weekend in Clarksburg. Imagine this: vendors along the streets, all selling their best Italian dishes, and the aroma is carried along by the breeze so that you can smell it 2-3 blocks away. MMMM!!! Belissima!!!

Christine, I'm so sorry about Grampa.

Shar-Mar, while you're in Frisco, you've got to sample some of the sourdough bread there. There's nothing like getting the "real thing," as they say. Sourdough was originated there, I think, and they do it the best.

Yo, Bill! Whassup, bro?

And hello to everyone else here in Zooneyland!

Duane

I was born right across the bay from where you are now, in Oakland. Was last there about four years ago. The last time I drove down the street I grew up on was maybe seven or eight years ago. It wasn't the same place...

My tip or tidbit regarding San Francisco is this....
You'd have to pay me to go there. Actually, the last time I was there was on company business, so I was paid to be there!

We lived near Burwell, Nebraska and I was born in Ord. The last time that I was there was in 2004 for my brother's funeral.

A friend of mine whose last name is Ord asked me if I'd ever been there when he found out I was originally from Nebraska. He's a relative of the town's namesake.

Hey y'all!

I just have a minute . . . some of us are getting ready to go ride the cable car and then go to dinner.

I have a prayer request, please.

This morning, I woke up with a soar throat, and was having chills a couple of hours ago.

Please pray that Our Lord will protect me and cover my health.

I absolutely cannot get sick while I'm here . . . I can't miss a single class - and there is class every single day, so there wouldn't be a "makeup" day.

Ok . . . a bunch of us are meeting down in the motel's lobby, so I need to scoot on down there.

Thanks for the prayers.

Bye y'all!

Praying for your health.

My grandmother would say dissolve four sticks of horehound candy in a pint of whiskey and take as needed.

God helps those who help themselves.

Thank you {{{Kristin}}} and {{{Kerr}}}.

Uhm, I don't have any horehound candy nor whiskey . . . but I did buy a bottle of orange juice and a bag of Ricola cherry cough drops.

Besides . . . last night, at the last part of our class, we had a wine tasting reception. And it was all legit too. As Tour Directors, whether we drink wine or not, we will have to have a working knowledge of different types of wine so that we will be able to help the guests; that's what we were learning last night at the reception.

I've never been to a wine tasting; it was pretty interesting and fun.

The cable cars tonight were a blast! A blast, I tell you!.
We hung out the sides, rang the bell and just had a ball.
And the views were magnificient!

We then went and got some clam chowder at Fisherman's Wharf, and then went and found some park benches where we could eat. Afterwards, we walked down to Pier 39 . . . where all the sea lions hang out. Man! It was already dark when we got there, but we could see their silhouettes . . . and we could definitely hear them. I thought it would be rude to not answer them, so I talked to them after they talked to us.

I want to go back during the day while I'm here.

I just got back in my room; and we have an early day tomorrow.
And . . . I'm exhausted.

I'm going to bed . . . which, I imagine most of y'all have already done the same thing.

Goodnight y'all.
