I'm praying for you also. No fun being sick & not being home in your own bed.
How long do you have to stay there taking classes? I hope you get to see & enjoy the sights while you are there.

Wow. Y'all aren't rambling anymore . . . y'all are punning. 
Good Morning y'all!
Thank you so much for your prayers! Yetserday went great; I didn't have a sore throat at all.
Hoever, I've woken up this morning with another sore throat . . . so please keep praying. 
Ricola cherry cough drops and I are getting to know each other very well.
Yesterday, we took 2 tours of the city. Two exact same tours. Well, kinda. The routes on both tours was exactly the same.
First, let me say that I never realized how diverse San Francisco is! My word! There are a lot of different ethnic places around town (Chinatown, which I did know about; Japantown, Russiantown). There's the mega rich (billionaires), the very poor (and their blocks are right next to each other); the "adult entertainment" (oy), the Gay area, the shopping areas, Fisherman's Wharf, etc., etc., etc.
It really was quite fascinating.
Regarding SanFran, in general, I am surprising myself (but don't tell me . . . I like surprises). 
I was very excited about coming here because of the school and because I simply wanted to see where I was born. However, I didn't know if I would "like" the city much.
While I wouldn't want to live here, I have been enjoying myself very much.
The people are very friendly.
Although, I must say that my favorite parts of the tours yesterday was when we were traveling around out of the city and away from all those skyscrapers. I think I would get claustrophobic if I lived somewhere where I couldn't look out and see expanses of nature.
I also have to periodically remind myself to close my mouth . . . as I've caught myself several times walking around with my mouth hanging open (mostly because of yet another tall building I've seen, and I'm standing there looking all the way up with my mouth wide open. 
Oh btw, there's a lot of beautiful buildings around here; both old and new; emphasis on beautiful.
The first bus tour yesterday was guided by a professional Tour Director (but yesterday, she was playing the role of a Tour Guide). She also works with the school (and, is, of course, a graduate of the school).
She did so well; and it was a fun, enjoyable time.
It was also my first time on a tour bus; those things are really comfortable and nice to ride. 
The tour was close to 3 hours (with various stops and lunch break included).
After lunch, it was OUR turn (the students). We all had to, individually, walk up to the front of the bus, introduce ourselves and guide for about 3-4 minutes, based on where we were at that point in the tour.
Oh my word; it was hilarious! 
At the beginning of this particular tour, our instructor relieved us all by telling us upfront that he didn't expect us to have retained much of what we learned from that morning and that basically, he was looking for how we spoke before a crowd, how we used a microphone, and how we kept ourselves safe while doing all that on a moving bus.
This came as a huge encouragement to me because (a) with my feeling so icky the day before, I wasn't operating at 100% (b) I misjudged how long our homework assignment from the day before was going to take (and to my relief, so did the vast majority of the class). This meant that I didn't finish routing my map and it also meant that I didn't even begin reading the handout about the various places that would be highlighted on the tour. The map was the bugger. A lot of us thought it would be a few minutes to route the map (I was one of them). We were so very wrong.
Good lesson to learn.
Back to the bus and all the students guiding the tour . . . We were all laughing so hard (not at each other; with each other). Our instructor told us, at the end of the trip, that his stomach muscles were hurting from his laughing so much.  He also cautioned us to remember what our tour guide had said about the area; and not what we had said. LOL
Some people really did very well (but most of them were locals). One guy who was not a local but who did quite excellently was a teacher (and apparently, an information sponge). If we could have collectively figured out how to give him a standing ovation while on a moving bus, he probably would have received one.
I was probably about the 20th person to guide.
I walked up to the front of the bus, took the microphone, turned around, smiled at everyone, and then my mind went almost completely blank. 
So I said (very enthusiastically), "Hey everyone" (I really wanted to say "y'all", but figured I would save that for later).
"Hey everyone; I'm Sharon-Marie . . . and, that's pretty much all I know at the moment."
I'm nothing, if not honest. 
This is the 31st year that this school has been in existence (and they currently have about 5 different training sessions each year). So, they already knew what it was going to be like . . .
. . . Whichever one of the students was guiding at that particular moment, they were also next to the tour guide (on one side of them) and the instructor (on the other side). So we were periodically being fed information to say into the microphone.
And still, some of the things that came out of our (collective mouths) yesterday were absolutely hysterical.
Oh btw, I got a bunch of high-fives as I was walking back to my seat. heehee
Why? I have absolutely no idea . . . I was pretty surprised when I starting getting them and even more surprised when they continued as I was making my way back to my seat (I was the first one to start getting them, but afterwards, everyone got 'em).
I'm making a great impression on my instructors.
For instance, one of the instructors, another guy and I was walking back to the bus at the end of one of the photo stops.
So . . . all three of us are walking back, and I turn and get on the bus. At that moment, two things happened simultaneously, I surprised the driver of that particular bus as he was trying to eat a sandwich before his group came back on AND I heard my instructor calmly say, "Wrong bus, dear."
I turned around and he looked like he was just absolutely enjoying the moment. Glad one of us was. 
At the end of the day, as I was getting off the bus, he thanked me for giving him so much amusement earlier in the day.
Uhm, yeah . . . my pleasure - now, where's my tip?
OK . . . class starts in 4 hours; and I have about 3 hours of homework to do (plus I still have to take a shower and all that other happy stuff).
OH! Ruth, to answer your question, the class is roughly 2 weeks in duration.

Sharon-Marie I am glad you are at least having a good time while learning to do a job. Don't work to hard, but enjoy the sights you are seeing.
