Personally, I think she put it on the back of a Canadian goose that was flying Down Under for the winter!

Our geese are smarter than that. They come down to you guys and give you all the messes they make.

LOL!

There was an item of tv the other day and it was talking about some birds in Rome (forget what now) who, because of their numbers, were causing problems. They're taking steps to move them on by making a noise. Apparently after a few days of the racket, they move on to pastures new without suffering any harm.

Interesting! They have a pigeon problem, I'm thinking.

We're on one of the major migration flyways--one that the geese travel. When they come back north in the fall, they come hungry and cause huge problems by eating the farmers' grain crops. So certain fields have actually been planted specifically for the geese to eat. I'm not sure how they expect the geese to know the difference between these fields and the others but since I'm neither a farmer or a bird conservationist, I don't have to fret about it. I sure love it when they come through though. The sky is filled with their honking.

Tell me about it! They especially love to come down to the golf course that I'm planning on playing, just so they can dump a huge load of "goose doody." And my ball, invariably, will find a pile. YUUUUCK!!!!

Maggie, can you please talk to the geese and ask them to go the bathroom before they fly south?

You guys can keep the goose manure over there. We don't need it.

Nope, I just checked... is a starling problem. The thing I saw was incredible because it showed these huge number of starlings flying and swooping and looked incredible. There's a link at the bottom of this article where you can see some of the clip.

Good morning, Sam! You know, I've never heard of anyone being hit from above. Maybe it disintegrates as it falls? Maybe they know how to hold it in till they land on Duane's golf course?

Invite them to unload HERE, before crossing the border? I don't think so! Didn't you know we give them secret instructions to wait? And our specially planted goose-food crops have been bred to move through the digestion system slowly.

As I said above, Trish, our geese are smart enough to not fly all the way to Australia when the US is so much closer.

Stovie, I couldn't see the video. :(

So I searched on youtube and found this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YadP3w7vkJA and http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lWSAhobp6mk (you can hear some English commentary in the background)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b8eZJnbDHIg&NR=1
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8xkvaO04pcc&NR=1
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8vhE8ScWe7w&NR=1 (this one comes with nice background music)

I can see why people stand watching them. That's incredible! It's like watching constantly reforming inkblots on a screen. Wow. Seems to me there is a spiritual lesson in these birds and their group formations. God talks about we Christians being one and being one body. To be that, we need to move together as the birds are doing. The birds are no less individual creatures, but they move together as one. Amazing!

I've been hit from above, earlier this year. We were dining al fresco with some friends when a stupid seagull unloaded on my head. It was just gross! Thankfully a friend got most of it off, but I definitely headed straight for the shower as soon as we got home.

ICK! Yeah, I know birds can drop on people, but they're usually not way up high in the sky when they do, are they?

Hi Maggie!

Now I'm curious how Pengie is doing.

Dove my heart goes out to you. My husband is dying. If the doctor is right he might have two years left. Will see he is having more and more trouble eating anything and hurts all the time.

Hello everyone,
I too am fretting about Pengie. If anyone hears an update let us know. She is in my prayers.

Last Tuesday, a quick outpatient procedure relieved alot of my pain and discomfort for the time being. Now I am waiting for a date to start chemo once again.

vmginny, I am sorry to hear of your husband's declining health. This must be very hard for you to watch. I try to understand this cancer through the caretakers/family's eyes but it is hard not to project. My kids are strong for me. My Mom is having a rough time. My Dad says little.

A very joyful Christmas season to all in case I don't get on again or often.

{{{{{{{{{Ginny}}}}}}}}}}

It sure is, Mike!

{{{{{{{{{{{Dove}}}}}}}}}} You're having a hard time, aren't you? Merry Christmas to you and your kids!

Thanks, Trish!

Dh and I are south of the border for the weekend to take in a concert. We arrived yesterday, the concert is tonight and we leave Monday afternoon. The hotel didn't have any record of our reservation (made through HotWire or Hotline or something) but thankfully they had a cancellation (they're full) and I had brought a computer printout of confirmation from Hotwire. We had dinner at the Texas Roadhouse and dh fell in love with the place. He actually went back out to the car to get his camera so he could take a picture of the two peanut buckets on our table. He LOVES peanuts. And he had argued that we should just eat in the mall's food court.

I didn't sleep well last night because of endometriosis pain and so I'm trying to decide whether I need more sleep or if I should get ready for church. I also feel a bit nauseous. Is that because I need food or because of lack of sleep? I don't feel too well. :(

Maggie, I hope you and dh have a great time away.

Endo, I remember it well. Have you got any pain meds with you? It would probably do you best if you have a little something to eat, then have a rest so that you're all ready for the concert.

I hope you're feeling better soon.

Thanks Trish. I have not found any meds that work for endo, so I use heat. That helps. To get food, I have to get dressed and go to the restaurant (no breakfast room and free breakfast here). I'm not doing that unless I'm going to get dressed for church. I really want to visit this church. I've been there before and really like it. Maybe I'll lie down and see what happens. If I can't get back to sleep in half an hour I may as well go to church as sit here.

I heard that it is always good to call the hotel after making a reservation. I think they do reservations the old fashioned way, via fax and they do not always get them.

I never ate at Texas Roadhouse but would like to sometime.

Sorry that you were not able to sleep as well!
