ORIGINAL: CoeurdeLeon Even now, Wintery? I agree that it was but it seems so dated and strange now, I wouldn't have thought that anyone could still identify with it. yes now Plus there are other productions all the time, plust Ted Neeley is still doing a farewell tour as Jesus---yeah it's out there. Look on youtube and see the whole 2000 movie version one segment at a time. Wintery! I had no idea. Okay, then. I agree, is, not was. quote:

Oh yeah it's time travel to look at the early version but knowing the history makes it also interesting--Jesus, Judas and Mary Magdelene all have had real Christian testimonies. I don't think I knew that. At least about Judas and Mary Magdalene. It's been years since I saw it and then it was more as a curiosity than anything else.

Oh btw, I was talking about Billy Jack instead, and yeah I kinda had a problem with the way Jesus Christ Superstar ended also.

But if you were going to do an Easter production, considering the "fleshing out" of the characters there might help--and watching JCS might give an idea to inexperienced church actors what a play about these people could be like.

I want to ask if there's the same outcry from Christians about it now that there was originally but I'm not sure if either of us will know what I'm talking about. If you get me, good. If not, I'll ask again tomorrow when I can think straight again. G'night.

If you get me, good. If not, I'll ask again tomorrow when I can think straight again. G'night. There's not the same uproar but there's some objections. I talked with an *older* person who told me objections which he still held and he was unable to be calm about it--nevermind that what he objected to was not actually portrayed in the script, it was just what he had heard. He objected to a "relationship" between Jesus and Mary Magdalene being "portrayed"--which they must get from Judas' nasty slanderous rant. They apparently didn't know that particular falsehood has been around a very long time. Broadway Jesus is not real Jesus, duh. I saw some sites that objected to Mel Gibson's movie merely on the basis of "a sinful man portraying our Lord" was just not right. Those kinds of folks are never happy. While there are real reasons to blast away at a Church that craves entertainment, the vehicle through which one expresses the Gospel may be with singing, acting, mime, painting as well as writing and preaching. It's more a matter of what the content of a performance is than the vehicle of expression. Puppet shows of all kinds have been around a long time. And whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men; (Colossians 3:23) And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength: this is the first commandment. (Mark 12:30) Now I'm going to ruin this beautiful, heartfelt yet still brilliant and quote-worthy exposition by paraphrasing someone famous: There's not entertainier; there are only different kinds of entertainness.

I have a high school reunion coming up in October. The lady planning it called the other night, was telling who all she had gotten in contact with. One guy is coming that she had not heard from in yeras, and is bringing his betrothed. She was so excited he is engaged, and thought it cute when he asked if he could bring a date. I did not have the heart to tell her he is gay. Can't wait to see that couple dance to the disco of the 1970's , and this woman's face when SHE sees it.

unless the rednecks show up in their light blue and lemon yellow tuxes they had the foresight to buy and not rent back in the day. Classy never goes out of style.
